Short answer: pick a poster if you already have a frame or want the lowest price, a framed poster if you want it ready to hang with a crisp edge, and a canvas if you prefer a softer, gallery-style look with no glass.
Who is Hiroshi Nagai?
Hiroshi Nagai (born 1947) is a Japanese illustrator known for bright, clean images of swimming pools, palm trees, classic cars and modern buildings under clear blue skies. His pictures became closely tied to 1980s Japanese City Pop music through album covers, including Eiichi Ohtaki's A Long Vacation (1981). Flat colour, sharp shadows and empty, sunny spaces are what make his style easy to recognise.
Posters
Our posters come in four sizes: 30×45 cm (12×18"), 40×60 cm (16×24"), 60×90 cm (24×36") and 100×150 cm (40×60"). They ship unframed, so you can use a frame you already own. The 30×45 and 40×60 cm sizes fit standard frames and work well in a gallery wall.
Framed posters
Framed posters arrive ready to hang in 60×90 cm (24×36") or 70×100 cm (28×40"), with a white, wood or black frame. A white frame keeps Nagai's pastel skies light and airy; black makes the colours look stronger; wood suits warm, mid-century rooms.
Canvas prints
Canvas prints are stretched over a wooden frame and need no glass, so there is no glare from windows. They come in four sizes from 30×45 cm to 70×100 cm. The canvas texture slightly softens the image, which suits bedrooms and lounges.
Which size for which wall?
- Above a sofa or bed: 60×90 cm or larger, or two smaller prints side by side.
- Hallway or small room: 30×45 or 40×60 cm.
- Statement wall: the 100×150 cm poster or a 70×100 cm framed print.
Hang the centre of the artwork at about eye level, roughly 145–150 cm from the floor.
